A quick question

Is it unrealistic to plan on going back to work on Tuesday, when my surgery was Thurs am?

  1. I had surgery on a Wednesday, drove home on Saturday (400 miles), and was at work on Monday. I wasn't the peppy-est, but I was there and functional.

I also had gall bladder surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on Tuesday.

Now I must admit I only work 4-hour days, just two miles from home. And have a desk job.

  2. For me there woudl have been no way I could have gone back to work. I had no energy on the liquid diet for one thing.
I took off two weeks. I might have been able to go back after one but I was glad to have the two personally.
    Everyone is so different.

  3. I had nine days off between surgery and my first shift back, and I still found it a bit difficult - granted, my job is at a coffee shop presently. I also struggled a bit with nausea/headaches at the beginning, so I was glad for the time off. As Robyn said, you don't have a lot of energy due to the liquid diet and the fact that you had general anesthesia. Once I did go back to work, I ended up finding myslef very tired once I got home for about 3-4 weeks. I'm finally feeling better now, and not so exhausted...I would take all the time you realistically can. Hope that helps!

  4. I had surgery on Wednesday morning... then flew to Vegas on Sunday. :) Every person is different! I wouldn't change a thing... except planning food better. I was at a conf, and should have thought food through better!

  5. Whatever you decide, just be prepared that you will get tired more quickly and your energy levels will be lower than normal for a few weeks. If your job allows, maybe plan on taking a few more breaks the first week back.

  6. Luckily for me I was retired, so I didn't have to worry about it. But in my case, I didn't have any Gas pain like most do (of course I didn't try to hold in any gas either!).

I also was tired a lot and probably could have returned to work after about 5 days, but realistically, I felt pretty good at about day 7-9. So if you work at a desk job....Monday may be ok, but take it easy.

Also, my Port site hurt pretty bad for several weeks, and if I bump something into it accidentally (like a shopping cart) it hurts!!!

    So...."Welcome to the Sisterhood/Brotherhood of the Bandster's"!!

  7. I was feeling pretty crappy for a full week after my surgery. I took two weeks off work because my boyfriend's the bread winner for now while I'm in school, so we could afford it, but I definitely was not feeling up to par the first full week.
